A moment when silence was no longer enough
I had set out on this journey with one purpose: silence. Not to escape, but to release what usually surrounds me. No thoughts lingering, no noise pressing in, no weight of everything that normally touches me. Just being, without expectation.
But the world does not fall silent simply because you need it to.
Along the way, I saw things I would rather not have seen. Glances, words, the quiet ways in which people look at one another as if the other is less. You know that moment when you want to turn your head away, as if not seeing is the same as not feeling.
But some hearts cannot do that.
I am one of those hearts.
What I saw did not stay at the surface. It reached deeper, into something difficult to name yet instantly recognized. Humanity — a word we all know, yet one that seems to fade in practice. Empathy is no longer a given. Respect has become a choice, not a foundation.
And still, something refuses to disappear.
Because without love, we go nowhere. Without each other, we are nothing, no matter how full our lives may seem.
So I did not remain standing to observe. I stepped closer. Not with grand gestures or words meant to impress, but simply. Human to human. What is given does not need to be loud to be real.
The surprise in those eyes says enough. Not about that person, but about the time we live in. Helping has become rare. Trust is fragile. And yes, I understand why.
But to me, it does not matter who you are, where you come from, or what you believe. A human is a human. You do not let someone suffer when you have the ability to give, even if it is only a little. A beginning is always enough.
I saw how that person was treated. How words were used to create distance. How people preferred to look away rather than to respond.
And then I spoke. Not because I wanted to, but because silence was no longer an option. Injustice is something I cannot walk past. Perhaps because I have known it myself. Perhaps because I understand what it does to a person when no one chooses to stay.
There are those who look away.
And there are those who remain.
I remained.
And life… it teaches you that those who have never been touched by fear or pain do not recognize it in another. Until the moment it is no longer outside of them, but within. That moment always comes.
Not with noise,
but with fire.
