Our Day at the Estate

Today was one of those days you don’t plan

but that stays with you.

We met beautiful people

and even a wonderful Irish man whose presence immediately brought warmth.

We spent our day at the estate,

surrounded by a peaceful pond filled with silvery fish,

the gentle croaking of green frogs,

and a choir of birds that never truly allowed the silence to be silent.

Parakeets flew freely through the sky,

and the sun laid its warmth softly against the façade of the farmhouse

as if it too wanted to stay a little longer.

We laughed

truly laughed

about things you couldn’t possibly imagine,

but that arise naturally on a day like this.

The white trees, symbols of spring,

gave everything a lightness, a sense of renewal

as if everything was beginning again.

What touched me most?

That you don’t have to travel far

to find beauty.

In your own land

in silence

in simplicity

you find light in every flower,

and a quiet glow in everything that grows without asking to be seen.

The farmhouse itself

spoke without words.

I looked at the cobblestones

and almost felt it

every stone carries a step

every step a story.

Even without knowing it fully,

you simply feel

that this place breathes history.

They say this farmhouse finds its origin

in the early 17th century,

founded by the Abbey of Ter Kameren.

And somehow you believe it instantly

Because you feel it.

Not every journey requires distance

some only ask for presence

Beauty is not found in what we search for

but in what we finally learn to see
